Just after 6 p.m. on the 22nd, two men who were inside the Meitetsu Inuyama Line railroad crossing in Inaricho, Iwakura City were hit by an oncoming rapid express train.

According to the police, as a result of this accident, Masatoshi Yamaguchi (80), a resident of Iwakura City, died at the hospital where he was transported, and Hidetoshi Baba (64), a resident of Komaki City, was in a critical condition, unconscious.

The drive recorder of Mr. Baba's car, which had stopped in front of the railroad crossing, shows that Mr. Yamaguchi, who was walking with a handcart, was left behind at the railroad crossing where the barrier was down, and Mr. Baba got out of his car to help him. It means that the progress was recorded.

According to the police, the train driver said, ``I saw two people at the railroad crossing and slammed on the brakes, but they collided with each other.''

Police are investigating the possibility that the male driver was involved in the accident while trying to help an elderly man who was unable to cross the railroad crossing.
