The series “The Office” has spawned a highly successful US offshoot under the same name. In Germany, the office comedy was adapted as “Stromberg”. But many die-hard fans swear by the British original, which turned the TV world upside down in just two seasons from 2001. A peripheral character but who dominated her scenes was the accountant Keith Bishop. She was portrayed by actor Ewen MacIntosh, who has now died at the age of just 50.

»His family thanks everyone who supported him. Especially the Willow Green Nursing Home. There will be a private cremation for family and close friends and a festive memorial service later in the year," his management said, according to the British Guardian.

According to Just Right Management, MacIntosh had been struggling with massive health problems over the past two years. He died on February 19th. No information was given about the cause of death.

In addition to “The Office” – his biggest hit with audiences – MacIntosh also appeared in shows such as “Miranda” and “Little Britain”. He also worked on musical productions and various radio shows.

Message from series creator Gervais

Ricky Gervais, comedian and co-creator of “The Office,” paid tribute to the actor: “Insanely sad news. The very funny and lovable Ewen MacIntosh, known to many as Big Keith from 'The Office', has died. An absolute original. Rest in peace."

MacIntosh's friend, DAB Music CEO Ed Scott, also addressed the public. On He may have been known to millions as Keith from The Office. But I’ll never forget the person behind it.”

Scott also mentioned in his message the nursing staff who had recently been caring for the sick actor.
