In the USA, a nine-year-old child is suspected of killing a relative by shooting him in the head. The child was picked up after the incident in Tooele in the western state of Utah, local police said on Tuesday.
Emergency services found the seriously injured man in the family home on Friday. "He apparently suffered a gunshot wound to the head," said a police representative. The man was taken to the hospital in nearby Salt Lake City, where he died.
A possible formal accusation of the child for a homicide is being examined, the police representative said. The authorities did not say what relationship the child had to the victim. It was also not announced whether it was a boy or a girl.
Gun violence is an everyday problem in the United States, where there are more guns than people. In the past, attempts to tighten lax gun laws have repeatedly failed due to resistance from conservative Republicans and the powerful gun lobby.
