In a park in Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, small yellow lilac flowers are in full bloom, adding color to the park.

Roubai is a deciduous tree native to China, and its small yellow flowers, about 2 cm in diameter, bloom slightly downward, and are characterized by glossy petals that look like waxwork and a sweet scent.

At Minori no Sato in National Bihoku Hillside Park in Shobara City, 15 Aspen trees are planted along the promenade, and the flowers, which started blooming late last month, are at their peak, and the sweet scent spreads throughout the park. It adds color.

Near the Roubai tree, the yellow flowers of the witch hazel, which has thin, ribbon-like petals, are blooming, and the pink flowers of an early-blooming plum called ``Yaekanko'' are also beginning to bloom.

Hiroo Shimizu of the National Bihoku Hillside National Park said, ``It's a cute flower, and when you look at it in the sunlight, it's clear yellow color shines through, so I'd like people to enjoy it and take pictures of it.''

The cherry blossoms in Bihoku Hillside Park will be in full bloom until early next month.
