China News Service, Beijing, February 21 (Reporter Chen Su) The reporter learned from the China Meteorological Administration on the 21st that freezing rain, snow and ice continued in central and eastern China, and the temperature in the north and south dropped sharply, turning on the "snap mode". The temperature in many places in the north was relatively high. The temperature is 4°C to 10°C lower than normal for the same period of the year.

On the 20th, strong winds, cooling, rain and snow occurred in the central and eastern parts of the country. Moderate or heavy snow occurred in parts of Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Henan and other places. Parts of central Shanxi, southern Hebei, northern Shandong and other places experienced moderate snow. There is a blizzard.

The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that the cold wave will continue to affect China southward. From the 21st to the 23rd, there will be medium to high risks of heavy snowfall, low temperature rain, snow and freezing disasters in some areas of the central and eastern regions.

It is expected that the daily average or minimum temperature will generally drop by 6°C to 12°C in most areas of the South, and the temperature in the southeastern southwest, southern and central-eastern Jiangnan, and central and northern South China will drop by 12°C to 18°C. Among them, the cumulative temperature drop in some areas such as southeastern Guizhou, southern Hunan, northern Guangxi, and central Jiangxi can reach more than 20°C. With the continuous rain and snow, many places in the south feel particularly cold and wet. Around the 23rd, the minimum temperature line of 0°C will press southward from southern Jiangsu and Anhui to southern Hunan and southern Guizhou.

The highest temperature in many places in the north reached its lowest point on the 21st. The temperature was 4°C to 10°C lower than the same period of the year. The temperature will slowly rise after the 23rd.

The cooling in South China is slightly lagging behind. On the 21st, the highest temperature in many areas such as Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan was around 30°C. However, there will also be a significant cooling around the 23rd and 24th, with a rapid transition between cold and warm.

On the 21st, the Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue yellow warnings for freezing, yellow warnings for snowstorms, orange warnings for cold waves, yellow warnings for heavy fog, blue warnings for strong winds, and blue warnings for severe convective weather. The China Meteorological Administration launched a three-level emergency response for cold wave, rain and snow.

Meteorological experts reminded that this round of rain and snow has a wide range of impacts and a long duration. It is necessary to pay attention to the impact on the return peak of Spring Festival travel, energy supply and agricultural production. (over)
