China News Service, Shanghai, February 18 (Pufan) A reporter learned from China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. on the 18th that the Yangtze River Delta Railway carried more than 17 million passengers during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday (February 10 to 17). On average, more than 2.15 million passengers were sent, an increase of more than 60% compared with the same period in 2019. The Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway, the Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway, the Xu-Lanzhou High-speed Railway, the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway, the Hangzhou-Shenzhen Railway and other direct-to-Dalian trunk lines, as well as the Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity, Nanjing-Hangzhou High-speed Railway, Hebei-Hangzhou High-speed Railway and other high-speed railway lines within the pipeline have achieved the largest passenger flow in history.

February 18 is the first working day after the Spring Festival holiday. On that day, the Yangtze River Delta Railway is expected to carry 2.52 million passengers. It plans to operate 443 additional passenger trains and reassemble 178 EMU trains. The railway department predicts that the return passenger flow will continue before the 15th day of the first lunar month.

Since the Spring Festival travel rush, railway transportation in the Yangtze River Delta has been safe, stable and orderly. Data shows that in the 15 days before the Spring Festival, passenger flow in the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou area is the most concentrated. As of February 17 (the eighth day of the first lunar month), the daily number of passengers on the Yangtze River Delta Railway has remained above 2 million on New Year's Eve, the first day of the Lunar New Year, and the second day of the Lunar New Year. To this end, railway stations in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, Hangzhou, Wenzhou, Ningbo and other places have launched emergency plans for large passenger flows in advance to ensure passenger travel. During the Spring Festival this year, due to the accumulation of many factors such as the increased willingness of passengers to travel and the diversion of traffic by multiple new lines, the number of passengers on the Yangtze River Delta Railway has significantly exceeded the same period in previous years.

According to reports, in order to cope with the changes in passenger flow around the Spring Festival and the freezing rain, snow and freezing weather in some areas of the country, the Yangtze River Delta Railway has accurately implemented the "one map per day" capacity allocation, and the capacity adjustment has changed from cyclical adjustment to on-demand adjustment. We will continue to pay attention to the pre-sale and waiting list of passenger tickets, determine the timing of planned passenger train launches and temporary passenger train launches as needed, and release transportation capacity in stages to ensure passenger travel needs. Since the Spring Festival travel rush, the Yangtze River Delta Railway has operated a total of 6,794 additional passenger trains and organized 4,551 EMU train reconnections. (over)
