A Palestinian resistance fighter and activist, and one of the most prominent cadres of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in the manufacture of mortar shells in all their forms, and in the manufacture of devices guided by timed watches and radio communication. Birth and upbringing

Suhail Abdel Karim Ziada - whose nickname was “Abu Al-Abd” - was born on November 3, 1975 in Jabalia Camp, northeast of Gaza City, and grew up in a simple home committed to the teachings of Islam. His childhood was the beginning of the first Intifada, and he was drawn to his love of mosques, and from an early age he was One of the pioneers of the “Return to God” mosque, he began his jihadi life at the beginning of his secondary school studies, despite his excellence.

Study and scientific training

He studied at the Islamic University until he was arrested by the Palestinian Authority in 1996.

The sacrificial experience

Suhail met the martyr, Commander Imad Aql, and then joined the ranks of the Al-Qassam Brigades. He did not last long in this field until he became pursued by the Palestinian Authority, which arrested him on the first day of Eid, and threw him in Al-Saraya Prison, where he spent 5 years.

In 1998, Suhail Ziadeh and a number of mujahideen tried to escape from Al-Saraya Prison, where they suffered the most severe types of torture, but they were arrested several hours later and placed in the interrogation basements under the harshest conditions for 5 days.

The Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000 was the reason for his release along with his fellow Mujahideen. The jailer refused to release them after the bombing began on them in their prison, despite the evacuation of all security personnel and the prisoners were left to die. They broke the prison doors and escaped, and then lived a life of persecution again, but This time of power and occupation together.

Military experience

Ziadeh assumed command of several groups in the Al-Qassam Brigades, which carried out incursions into the settlements in northern Gaza and bombarded them with mortar shells, of which he had extensive experience in manufacturing all types.

He is considered one of the engineers in manufacturing RPG shells and Qassam 1 and 2 missiles, as well as timed and radio-guided devices. He lost three fingers on his hand while installing one of the devices. He was also injured in the head while being pursued by the Palestinian Military Intelligence Service after... Launching rockets towards the Sderot settlement.

Ziadeh represented the Al-Qassam Brigades from the northern region in the joint operations room of the military wings of the Palestinian organizations. He participated in planning and preparing a large number of military operations, including:

  • The storming of the Gush Katif settlement complex.

  • The Dugit settlement operation north of Gaza, one of the largest Israeli settlements, led to the death of two Israeli soldiers.

  •  He was one of the participants and planners of an operation in the Elei Sinai settlement in which an Israeli nuclear scientist was killed.

  •  Operation “Netzarim” and Operation Abu Al-Ajen Junction.

  •  The operation to destroy two troop carriers in the Beit Lahia area, north of Gaza.

Assassination

Suhail Ziadeh was martyred at exactly eight o'clock in the evening on Sunday, May 5, 2002, at the age of 27, during a reconnaissance operation east of Gaza City. Israeli tanks bombed him and his companions with 7 shells, and he and the martyr Mazen Fouad Rizq (23 years old) continued to bleed without the forces allowing them to bleed. The occupation forces transported them to ambulances to the hospital, while ambulances were able to transport another mujahid who was with them.
