China News Service, Beijing, February 16 (Reporter Pang Wuji) Many places in China will encounter a cold wave at the peak of the Spring Festival travel season. According to news from the Central Meteorological Observatory on the 16th, from the 17th to the 22nd, due to the cold wave, most areas in China will experience a temperature "roller coaster", accompanied by widespread rain and snow. There will still be freezing rain in Henan, Hubei, Hunan, and Guizhou, which will be detrimental to the Spring Festival travel return. Very disadvantageous.

The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that from February 17 to 22, due to the cold wave, the temperature in most parts of the country will drop by 6°C to 12°C, with some areas falling to 12°C to 18°C, and locally above 20°C, with the lowest temperature reaching 0°C to the south. It presses from southern Jiangsu and Anhui to southern Hunan and southern Guizhou.

In the next week, snowfall or rain will turn to snow in the eastern part of Northwest China, North China, Northeast China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, Jianghan, northern and western Jiangnan, and heavy snow will occur in some areas; southern Huanghuai, Jianghan, Jianghuai, Jiangnan There will be moderate to heavy rain, local heavy rain, thunderstorms, short-term heavy rainfall and other strong convective weather in central and northern places.

In addition, from the 20th to the 22nd, there was freezing rain in some areas of Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou and other places.

In the morning of the 16th, the temperature in most areas of the north rose significantly. In some areas of Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, the temperature increased by more than 10℃ compared with the same time on the 15th. However, the Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that the warming in the north is temporary, and the cooling in northern Xinjiang has already begun. It is expected that in the coming week, the temperature in most parts of China will experience a "roller coaster", rising first and then falling. The period affected by strong cooling is: 17-18 days in the northwest region; 18-20 days in the north of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River; 20-22 days in most areas in the south.

The Central Meteorological Observatory reminded that during this cold wave, due to the significant warming in the early stage and the strong force of cold air, the cooling was somewhat extreme and was significantly lower than the same period in normal years. Taking Wuhan, Hubei as an example, the highest temperature could reach 24°C on February 18, but the highest temperature on February 22 was only 1°C.

Meteorological experts reminded that at the peak of the Spring Festival travel season, widespread rain, snow, ice and windy weather in the central and eastern regions will once again have adverse effects on roads, railways, aviation, water transportation, etc. It is recommended that all regions make emergency preparations and safety management in advance.
