The general director of the

Aragonese Radio and Television Corporation (CARTV),

journalist

Raquel Fuertes,

has been forced to leave the position for which she was elected last November by the

Cortes of Aragon,

having been denied by the

Government of Spain

on leave to hold public office.

Fuertes will return on Monday to his position as a journalist in the

Delegation of the Government of Aragon

that he had obtained through opposition and has announced that he will take legal action to defend his right to forced leave.

After appearing at the corporation's

Board of Directors

, which met urgently this Saturday to analyze the situation, Fuertes "deeply regretted the situation that has been created for the Aragonese Radio and Television Corporation and its workers."

He explained that he carried out all the administrative procedures "following at all times the instructions of the Government Delegation and protected by the

Workers' Statute,

a basic legal norm."

He added that

he finds it "incomprehensible

that the Government of Spain denies rights to workers and also limits and restricts the decision of the Cortes of Aragon."

Fuertes' appointment as general director of CARTV was approved in the Cortes of Aragon on November 17, for the first time in the history of the corporation,

without any vote against.

Until the situation is resolved, the Board of Directors has agreed that journalist

Ana Jimeno,

current Media Director of the Corporation, will provisionally perform

the

functions of general management.

SAMPLES OF SUPPORT

Likewise, it has unanimously expressed its total support and solidarity towards Raquel Fuertes and has agreed to a

suspension of the contract

as general director until the

judicial resolution

of the lawsuit that she will file.

Likewise, by absolute majority, it has approved "to regret the inconsistency and injustice of the resolution notified to Raquel Fuertes yesterday."

Furthermore, with nine votes in favor and six abstentions, the provision of the corporation's legal services to Raquel Fuertes has been approved.

And, with 11 favorable votes and four abstentions, it has been decided to request the appearance in the Cortes of Aragón of Fuertes and the president of the Board of Directors,

Antonio Suárez.

Suárez has regretted that this situation has occurred "in the first place, by Raquel Fuertes and, above all, by the radio and television of Aragon, a very important public service for the Aragonese, who do not deserve that no one is trying to raise problems for alter its functioning."

In statements to the media, Suárez has indicated that he knows "that there is a minister, with great weight in

Madrid,

the Minister Spokesperson,

Pilar Alegría,

who was informed of the problem and has done absolutely nothing so that it can be resolved by the appropriate channels".

On the other hand, the Company Committee of the Aragonese Radio and Television Corporation has expressed its support for Raquel Fuertes as an employee of the Corporation. In a statement, they point out that they are going to "ask for the appropriate explanations." "We are not going to allow the image or work of the people who belong to CARTV to be played with," the text adds.

Likewise, the

Association of Journalists of Aragon

has issued a statement supporting Fuertes. They consider that she is a prestigious professional who deserves equal treatment to that received by her predecessors in office.

He adds that he will request legal advice to deal with the matter "with all the rigor it deserves."
