The people of Lot committed extravagance against themselves and committed the crime of sexual intercourse and inducing sexual desire through satanic means forbidden by God Almighty (Al Jazeera)

When Lot migrated with his uncle, Khalil Allah Ibrahim (peace be upon them), they settled in the Jordan Valley. Then Lot (peace be upon him) lived alone in one of the tribes on the banks of the Dead Sea or Lake Lot, as it was later called, and they lived in the city of Sodom, and Lot (peace be upon him) became ) of them by marriage and cohabitation.

Then it happened that a strange anomaly spread among the people, which the Holy Qur’an states is occurring for the first time in human history. This is the deviant sexual inclination towards males instead of females, which God created for men. To consist of the sexes as natural, productive units that guarantee the extension of life through offspring in accordance with the established nature in all living things, since God created them in pairs, male and female, so abnormality and deviation to the same sex did not occur before these people of Lot, and through the story of Lot and his speech to his people in the Holy Qur’an, it appears that corruption had occurred. It has spread among them in all its forms, and they commit deviant immorality that no one in the world has ever done before them.

They were blocking the road, plundering money, terrorizing passers-by, and attacking men with indecency against their will, which is a step further in the first indecency, in addition to plundering, plundering, and spreading corruption on earth.

They used to have sexual intercourse with men, which was obscene and filthy, indicating the deviation of the nature and its corruption from deep within. The nature may be corrupted by exceeding the limit of moderation and purity with a woman. So this would be an obscene crime, but it falls within the scope of nature and its logic. As for this abnormality, it is a departure from the nature of all living things, and a corruption of both the psychological structure and the organic structure alike. God has made the pleasure of sexual intercourse between spouses consistent with the larger line of life and extension of offspring. What results from this abnormal directness has no purpose, and God did not equip the nature to enjoy it due to the lack of purpose in it. If someone finds pleasure in it, this means that he has completely detached himself from the line of nature, and has returned to a monster that is not connected to the line of life.

They would block the road, plunder money, terrorize passers-by, and assault men with indecency against their will, which is a step further in the first indecency, in addition to plundering, plundering, and spreading corruption on earth. It is a further level of obscenity, corruption of nature, and bragging about vice to the point where there is no hope of righteousness.

The story of Lot (peace be upon him) in Surah Al-Ankabut is brief, and it is clear that Lot commanded them at the beginning and forbade them to do good, and that they insisted on what they were in, so they feared the punishment of God, and confronted them with the heinousness of their major crimes, so their answer was: {And the answer of his people was only that they said, “Bring us.” With the punishment of God, if you are of the truthful.} (Al-Ankabut: 29) It is bravado in the face of warning, and defiance accompanied by denial and distraction from which no repentance is expected. Their Messenger was excused from them and there was nothing left but to turn to his Lord asking for his final victory.

God Almighty said: {My Lord, grant me victory over the corrupting people} (Al-Ankabut: 30), and here the curtain comes down on Lot’s supplication, so that it will not be answered, and on the way the angels charged with carrying out the execution meet Abraham (In the Shadows of the Qur’an, Sayyid Qutb, 5/2733).

The crime that these people committed, and for which they deserved the various types of torment that befell them, is that they diverted this instinct that God placed in man from its permissible aspect to another forbidden aspect that has no benefit or fruit.

God Almighty described them as extravagance when the torment came upon them. He said: “Marked with your Lord for the transgressors” [Al-Dhariyat: 34]. the border; God Almighty said regarding what is permissible: {These are the limits of God, so do not transgress them} (Al-Baqarah: 229), and He said regarding what is forbidden: {These are the limits of God, so do not approach them} (Al-Baqarah: 187), meaning: Stop at the limits of what is permissible and do not cross it to anything else. As for what is forbidden, beware of crossing it. Get close to him, be careful just getting close to him; Because if you approach it, you are about to fall into it, it will protect you (Tafsir Al-Shaarawi, Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawi, 23/14590)

Just as God Almighty said to Adam (peace be upon him): “And do not approach this tree” [Al-Baqarah: 35], and He said: “And do not approach adultery” (Al-Isra: 32), so forbidden does not prevent us from doing something, but rather prevents us from approaching its causes. Why did these extravagant criminals go to extravagance? They indulged in a forbidden act that contradicts the pure nature that God created.

The crime that these people committed, and for which they deserved the various types of torment that befell them, is that they diverted this instinct that God placed in man from its permissible face to another forbidden face that has no benefit or fruit. A face that contradicts common sense and upright tastes, so they used to have intercourse with men instead of having intercourse with women, as God Almighty has permitted, and it is known that intercourse is limited to the place of plowing and cultivation: {So have access to your tillage however you wish} (Al-Baqarah: 223), and that is through marriage that God has permitted to His servants. (Tafsir Al-Shaarawi, Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawi, (23/14592).

The people of Lot committed extravagance against themselves, and committed the crime of having a penis and inducing sexual desire through satanic means forbidden by God Almighty. Since this act was adultery deserving of stoning, God stoned them not with stones from the earth, but with stones from heaven, descending upon each one of them in his name. It belonged to him and no one else, so that none of them were left behind and they were completely annihilated.
