Recently, the Shenzhen Futian Station of Guangzhou Railway Group was filled with the festive atmosphere of the New Year. As the first stop on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link connecting Hong Kong and the mainland, Futian Station is like an "umbilical cord", promoting personnel exchanges and economic and cultural exchanges between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. When you walk out of the exit of Futian Station, you will see a bustling commercial plaza, where people enjoy the convenience of life brought by high-speed rail.

At the same time, in a dark and dull tunnel 30 meters underground at Futian Station, a group of high-speed rail safety guardians are working hard.

At 10:20 that night, as I continued down the narrow stairs, the noise of the crowd gradually dissipated in my ears, leaving only the roar of the ventilation ducts and the roar of the passing train. Tang Xulin, foreman of the Futian Signaling Work Area of the Shenzhen North High-Speed Railway Signaling Workshop of the Guangzhou Electrical Section of the Guangzhou Railway Group, is leading his colleagues to make intensive preparations for the skylight operation at night.

The temperature in the underground passage was a bit sultry. As beads of sweat appeared on Tang Xulin's forehead, tools were taken out and numbered and arranged neatly. That night, Tang Xulin will lead the signal workers in Futian Signal Works Area to conduct a patrol inspection of the electrical signaling equipment in Futian Station.

As the dispatch order to allow the operation was issued, Tang Xulin took the lead and walked into the tunnel carrying a tool bag weighing dozens of kilograms. In the tunnel, the shining light of the headlights is sometimes a little dazzling, and if you are not careful, you may trip over the sleepers or power cords on the track. Tang Xulin's progress is as steady as ever. He jokingly said: "I have walked through this tunnel countless times, and it is more familiar to me than walking up the stairs in my house." The colleague behind him couldn't help joking: "I didn't see you falling when you first came here." The cheerful laughter broke the dullness of the tunnel.

Tang Xulin has been taking root at Futian Station for 9 years. He is well aware of the conditions of the equipment in the tunnel, and any risk that affects train safety cannot escape his eyes.

After arriving at the work site, everyone quickly got into work mode. Due to the increase in the number of trains during the Spring Festival travel period, the Futian Station switch use has also become more frequent. The average number of train passes of more than 200 times a day may cause subtle changes in the switch structure, thereby creating safety hazards. In order to reduce the safety risks of turnout equipment, during the skylight time during the Spring Festival travel season, Tang Xulin led his employees to conduct a detailed inspection of the specific application status of each set of turnouts, from the close adhesion of the turnouts to the gap curve.

"The daily curve of the 2# turnout gap has a tendency to be smaller today. Check whether the rods are loose and tightly adhered." Tang Xulin always arranges for employees to deal with problems discovered by browsing the gap monitoring software every day. The temperature in the 30-meter underground tunnel made every signal worker's face covered with sweat, but their expressions were full of smiles and pride.

"My wife works in Hong Kong and takes a bus from Futian Station to and from Hong Kong every day. She said that when she passes here every day, she feels very at ease when she thinks that I am protecting the safety of this line." Huang Jianxiong said proudly. It is understood that , he had just entered into marriage with his wife not long ago.

After the evening maintenance, Tang Xulin opened the monitoring and analysis software again and carefully reviewed the status of the equipment inspected that night. This has long become the norm in his work. Under his leadership, the work area has had no safety issues for four consecutive years.

"To be honest, the work is actually quite tiring, but I saw everyone coming here safely through this line. This makes me feel that my work is very meaningful." Tang Xulin said calmly. (over)
