A 16-year-old died as a pedestrian on Autobahn 36 in Saxony-Anhalt on Friday. The police said in the evening that he tried to cross the road coming from the right at the Hoym junction. The driver of an approaching car braked heavily but was no longer able to avoid the collision with the pedestrian.
The force of the impact threw the teenager into the left lane. He died from his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. It was still unclear why the young man entered the road, it said.
The accident happened around 4:40 p.m. and the A36 in the direction of Bernburg was closed until late in the evening. According to the police, there were therefore significant traffic delays.
