China News Service, Beijing, February 15 (Wei Xianghui) It is the return period of Spring Festival travel, and a cold wave is already on the way. On the afternoon of the 15th, the China Meteorological Administration held an online news briefing.

Zhang Fanghua, chief forecaster of the Central Meteorological Observatory, introduced at the meeting that a cold wave weather process is expected to affect most areas of my country from the 17th to the 22nd. The cumulative temperature drop during the entire process will be 10 to 18 degrees Celsius, and the temperature drop in some areas can reach more than 20 degrees Celsius. .

It is understood that from the 16th to the 18th, before the main impact of the cold wave, the temperature rose significantly in most areas of the central and eastern regions. Around the 19th, the daily maximum temperature in most of Jiangnan, South China, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places was 25-28℃, and some areas in Jiangxi, Fujian and other places could reach around 30℃, approaching or exceeding the historical extreme (mid-February).

This process was also accompanied by relatively obvious rain and snow weather. Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Shandong, Hubei, Anhui and other places will experience severe to heavy snowstorms and local heavy snowstorms. Freezing rain will also appear in Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou and other places. There are still heavy rains in some areas of Jianghuai and central and northern Jiangnan, and there are also large-scale thunder and lightning and local strong convective weather in the south.

Zhang Fanghua said that judging from the current forecast, the temperature in the northern region will rise starting from the day on the 24th, while the temperature in the southern region will gradually rise around the 26th and 27th.

Compared with the rainfall and snowfall that affected our country at the beginning of this month, Zhang Fanghua expects that the intensity of snowfall, intensity of freezing rain, range and duration of freezing rain, and duration of low temperature will not be as strong as last time.

It should be noted that we are currently at the peak of the Spring Festival travel season, and widespread rain and snow in the central and eastern parts of the country, as well as freezing and windy weather in some areas, will once again have a significant impact on roads, railways, aviation, and water transportation.

Zhang Fanghua said that first of all, from the perspective of highway traffic, areas such as Northeast China, the eastern part of Northwest China, North China, Huanghuai, and all the way south to most of Jiangnan are affected by rain and snow. The traffic meteorological risks are relatively high, and roads are prone to snow accumulation. and frozen water, causing traffic congestion. In addition, it will also have an impact on power communication facilities, agriculture, animal husbandry, etc. It is recommended that the public pay close attention to the latest information released by the local meteorological department and transportation department, make travel arrangements in advance, prevent the adverse effects of slippery roads, icy roads, and low-visibility weather on transportation, and take measures to prevent cold and warmth.
