In Hita City, Oita Prefecture, which prospered as a Tenryo under the direct control of the Edo Shogunate, the Tenryo Hita Doll Festival began on the 15th, displaying precious Hina dolls passed down from the Edo period.

The Tenryo Hita Doll Festival is held every year around this time to help people learn about the culture of Hita, which prospered as a Tenryo during the Edo period. Approximately 5,000 Hina dolls are displayed at 18 locations in the city, including old houses and museums. I am.

Among these, the museum in Mameda-cho, where the townscape of those days still remains, exhibits ``Okiage Hina'' that have been passed down in the Chikugo River basin, including Hita City.

The ``Okiage Hina'' dolls are made from scraps of cloth, cotton, and cardboard, and the dolls depicting Kabuki scenes stand out.

In addition, the Edo period merchant house "Kusano Honke", which has been designated as a national important cultural property, has "Kyoho Hina dolls" made about 300 years ago, and "Kyoho dolls" placed in a cypress palace about 4 meters wide. You can enjoy "Goten Hina" etc.

Yasuko Kusano, director of Kusano Honke, said, ``I want people to feel the story of each historical doll.''

``Tenryo Hita Ohina Festival'' will be held until the 31st of next month.
