Su Qian is an international student from Bolivia. She learned about China through the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” and was full of curiosity about this mysterious country. In order to study and live in China, in 2019, she started studying at the Confucius Institute at the University of San Simón in Bolivia. She studied Chinese at the college. After four years of study, she passed the corresponding Chinese exam and applied for a scholarship to study in China. In August 2023, Su Qian came to Qinhuangdao, China, and studied at Hebei Foreign Trade and Economics Vocational College.

Su Qian said that the first impression that Chinese people gave her was that they were warm and hospitable. When she first arrived at school, her classmates took the initiative to help her, taking her to the cafeteria and telling her where the supermarket was. The students also left their phone numbers so that if there is an emergency, you can call them at any time.

Su Qian's country has no sea. After seeing the sea in Qinhuangdao, she was very happy. She also climbed the Great Wall of China that she saw online. Su Qian said that it was her first time to celebrate the Spring Festival in China. She knew that the dragon was the symbol of China. She felt very lucky that it was the Year of the Dragon when she celebrated the Spring Festival in China for the first time. "During the Spring Festival, the school's teachers organized the international students in the school to make dumplings and celebrate the Spring Festival together. This feeling is really great."

In addition to studying, Su Qian also transforms into a Chinese teacher and improves her teaching ability by giving lectures to her classmates. In order to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, Su Qian also took practical classes such as calligraphy and paper-cutting. Su Qian said that her dream is to become a Chinese teacher after returning to China so that more Bolivians can understand China.
