The former national deputy of the PP

Antonio González Terol,

who was also on the verge of being mayor of

Alcorcón

in the 2023 municipal elections, is "detoxifying from politics", as he joked this Wednesday before the students of the Escuela de Unidad Editorial ( ESÚE). The former mayor of

Boadilla del Monte

also attended, as he has done in other years, to give a lecture to the students of the

Master of Journalism, Research, Data and Visualization

of El Mundo and the Francisco de Vitoria University,

as well as the

Master of Journalism from El Mundo and the San Pablo CEU University.

The main topic of the

masterclass

was the information that journalists can obtain in different political institutions, mainly in the

Congress of Deputies,

where Terol has served until the last legislature.

Just a few months ago he retired from politics, although he could have recently returned to Congress, since he was on the

Popular Party

list and it would have been up to him to collect his deputy certificate a few weeks ago. However, in recent months he has started working at the photovoltaic solar energy company

Solaria,

which is listed on the

Ibex 35.

At first, as its head of International Institutional Relations, and since this week he has also been the

Communications Director

of this international company, with

presence in seven countries.

"It is necessary for journalists to go to institutions such as Congress and the Senate and interact with politicians to be able to

exercise their fundamental role of counterpower,"

said the former politician. "Journalists can obtain a lot of information simply by consulting the websites of the different institutions, because the regulations on transparency require a lot of information to be made public," he said.

Terol showed the students different examples of how it is possible

to know the textuality

of what has been said in the sessions, the

initiatives

of each party or each deputy, or

all the steps that a law has taken

since it was conceived until it was finally passed. is approved, among other cases.

In addition, he highlighted to the students the

importance of the relationships between journalists and politicians,

since much of the great information that is published is born from them.

When asked if he had not felt tempted to return to politics a few weeks ago, the former deputy seems convinced that, after more than 20 years of career and having been the most voted mayor in Spain, his place is now in private business. :

"I'm detoxing from politics,"

he joked.
