In light of the intensification of the Israeli aggression against Gaza, US President Joe Biden came out with a call for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, which he tried to market during his visits to the region and the shuttle tours of his Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken.

Biden anticipated the end of the war to announce this approach, in contrast to what happened in 1991 when a regional peace conference was announced with the participation of the Arabs and the Zionist entity, after Iraq’s defeat in the war launched by a coalition mobilized by Washington against it after its occupation of Kuwait.

This time, the American administration wants to put the cart before the horse, and is trying to anticipate events, with the aim of saving the Zionist entity from its predicament, and crowning the war with a political solution whose failure was proven throughout a settlement process that lasted more than 30 years, and was met with rejection from Israel!

This proposal aims to bring about a change in the atmosphere of interaction and solidarity in the Arab region with the Palestinian resistance, and to transform the interest in it among the Arab peoples into a false political title, as well as to alleviate the overwhelming resentment in the West and in the world against the entity.

Action goals

This American move comes as an attempt to regain the initiative in the region, after the “Al-Aqsa Flood” struck the American strategy by focusing on the priority of confronting China and Russia, and entrusting the Zionist entity with the task of preserving the interests of the United States in the region after its departure from it.

The shaking of the entity’s image after October 7 led to a major disruption in the American strategy, which sought to integrate the entity into the Arab region after liquidating the Palestinian issue, and turning it into a marginal issue, by completing the process of normalization and alliance between the Arab countries and the Zionist entity, which will crown the entity as a whole. He is the head of the region with his technological capabilities and military and security strength.

The Zionist entity appeared in a state of impotence and weakness unprecedented in its history. It lost its image as an invincible army, and its theory of deterrence was flawed, as it appeared weak, shaky, and afraid, in a way that required direct intervention by the United States to save it from its predicament, and prevent its opponents from seizing this historic opportunity to attack it, in addition to the fear of His unbalanced reactions, which could inflict on him another defeat no less bad than the defeat of October 7.

It was not enough for Washington to provide this entity with the military and security support it needed and provide political cover for its aggression. Rather, it had to ensure the continuation of its role and overcome the shock in which it fell by proposing the project of an independent state, which would ensure its reintegration into the region through a process Normalization and what follows it, which will confirm the American strategy and overcome the damage it has suffered.

In order to achieve this, it is necessary to hijack the victory of the resistance and its potential positive effects on the issue and the region, including creating a Palestinian consensus on a political program based on the resistance program, rejecting the settlement process that failed to achieve any achievement for the Palestinian people, and forming a radiation in the region that strengthens The hopes of the peoples to achieve their freedom and freedom from the restrictions of their rulers, and freeze or stop the process of normalization with the entity.

The initiative also aimed to empower a (renewed) Palestinian authority annexed to Israel under a false, unrealistic title and an unverifiable promise, in light of the Israeli position, which with its various factions refuses to accept an independent state, even if it is demilitarized, as Biden described it.

This proposal also aims to bring about a change in the atmosphere of interaction and solidarity in the Arab region with the Palestinian resistance, and to transform the interest in it among the Arab peoples into a false political title, as well as to reduce the overwhelming resentment in the West and in the world against the entity, by preoccupying the region with a political process that consumes its efforts and clings to a proven false hope. By experience it is not achievable.

This brings us to the position of the Israeli extremist government, which has stubbornly expressed its rejection of this state and its opposition to America, which wants to rescue it from its defeat. Thus, it resembles a rebellious animal that escapes from its shepherd and insists on hitting the wall with its horns to cause its head to break!!

What is more dangerous than this is that the Biden government wants to divert attention from the occupation and the barbaric Israeli aggression, by dragging the Palestinian Authority and the Arab countries and jumping into the amusement of an independent state, in preparation for the most dangerous thing, which is normalization with the Zionist entity, despite the fact that it provided full support for the continuation of the aggression, and emphasized the The entity's right to what it called self-defense, and it steadfastly rejected calls for a ceasefire and complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

It is true that the previous Trump administration, which promoted the deal of the century, did not talk about an independent state and focused on economic peace, but the Biden administration’s endeavor does not differ in its final product from the deal of the century, which is normalization, economic peace, and empowering the entity to lead the region.

Biden also seeks to achieve normalization in the region, which he presents as an achievement for his administration at the gates of the US presidential elections, in order to compensate for his electoral losses to his rival Trump, and to confront criticism from the leftist movement in his party. Because of its blatant bias towards the entity, and the failure to exert real pressure on it to stop targeting civilians in Gaza.

A tough Israeli position

The Liberation Organization announced the establishment of the Palestinian state in 1988 on the territories occupied in 1967. It was a formal declaration. Because the Palestinians do not control this land, but the Oslo Accords of 1993 set a time limit for recognizing the independent Palestinian state in 1999, after the Palestine Liberation Organization recognized the State of Israel, but that has not happened yet!

The former Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Barak, also proposed in the Camp David negotiations in 2001 - during the era of former US President Bill Clinton - the establishment of a state devoid of sovereignty and weapons, and without control over natural resources, the air and the sea, provided that the Palestinians give up Jerusalem, which the President rejected. The late Yasser Arafat, who was the reason for his assassination in 2004.

The Quartet - which included the United States, the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations - also failed to achieve the state’s promise even after the 2000 uprising stopped, so Israel continued to annex lands and Judaize Jerusalem, and the number of settlers doubled and jumped from 115,000 in 1993 to 750,000 in 2023.

Therefore, the basic political truth of the entity is that there is no government in the entity that accepts an independent Palestinian state, and this government is the most vehement in its rejection.

Biden tried to commit Netanyahu to an independent state, when he said: A Palestinian state with Netanyahu is not impossible, and that he admires the idea of a demilitarized Palestinian state. But Netanyahu was quick to deny him and confirm his adherence to his position, and announced that he refuses to give up full Israeli security control over the entire area west of Jordan, as this conflicts with the Palestinian state.

This comes with Netanyahu’s increasing inclination towards Kahanism represented by the extremists Ben Gvir and Smotrich, which believes that Israel has the right to everything that falls between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, and not to give up any part of it, and that recognition of the Palestinian state - even if it is without real sovereignty - He is a danger to Israel.

Therefore, this government is waging a war of genocide and ethnic cleansing to establish the identity of the entity and eliminate the Palestinian identity. Because it does not see a people existing alongside it, and it seeks to displace them outside historic Palestine.

Writer Leanne Falk David expressed the truth about Israeli positions on an independent state in an article in Haaretz on February 6, 2024, when he said: “The Netanyahu government can respond positively to the constructive discourse in the American initiative. All parties realize that establishing a Palestinian state is a matter of Not practical in the foreseeable future.

Therefore, there is no reason why Israel would not be able to declare that it is not opposed to a two-state solution, if conditions are right in the future. The government must make clear to the world that it does not want to control the Strip, and that it must invest effectively in building a civilian alternative to Hamas. This foreign policy is first and foremost a security interest for Israel. “Every day that Israel continues to say ‘no’, the political and security momentum that emerged after October 7 is not only eroded, but also shattered.”

The day after the war

Despite this fact, what Washington is doing is hypocrisy, misleading, and lying, and an attempt to manipulate words to cover up its unlimited support for the entity in its war on Gaza. It is also considered an attempt to cover up her failure to deal with a man clinging to power and her submission to the Jewish lobby, even though she had previously spoken about severe disagreements with Netanyahu regarding the post-war period and reducing the targeting of civilians!

In this context, US Senator Bernie Sanders calls on President Biden to clearly reject the policies of the right-wing Netanyahu government, and to call on Congress to act and not provide more US military aid to the Netanyahu government, which is something that no previous US administration has done.

The Biden administration’s proposal for an independent state comes within the framework of the arrangement for the day after the war, which is essentially based on giving the occupation a free hand in killing and displacing the Palestinians, and trying to eliminate their resistance or push them to surrender and impose political options on them with an authority that has specifications that are consistent with the goals of the occupation, and then enables it to form a weak entity. It leads to ending the issue and opening the door wide for Arab alliances with the entity under the guise of normalization.

In the midst of this, a remarkable position emerged from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia demanding an end to the war and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza before talking about an independent state and normalization. This position is directed primarily to the Netanyahu government, and is a message to the Biden administration that any political solution must be preceded by a cessation of the war.

The US State Department said in a statement: Washington has obtained a commitment from countries in the region to participate in the reconstruction of Gaza after the end of the war “if there is a real path to the establishment of a Palestinian state”!

The continued failure of the Arab countries to take a decisive stance against the entity, such as: severing relations and stopping normalization, or taking deterrent economic measures against the United States and the European countries that support the occupation, is what encourages the American administration to continue its hostile approach to the Palestinian people, and to continue marketing the farce of an independent state that We must not agree with it as a cover for aggression, and there will remain a national responsibility to stop the aggression and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and to provide support to the Palestinian people for reconstruction, and to support them in all fields to enable them to regain their occupied homeland, and to support their resistance in order to obtain their rights.

Continuing to talk about a Palestinian state while the genocide against the Palestinian people continues, and the strict Israeli rejection of even a demilitarized Palestinian state, is distraction, deception, and an insult to the minds of Palestinians and Arabs, and a disregard for the blood of Palestinians.

Then, the attempt to impose choices on the Palestinian people, and impose a specific authority and hand it over to the promised state, will not achieve success as long as the resistance continues, and as long as the Palestinians adhere to their own choices and their endeavor to agree on a Palestinian national program upon which their national forces unite, away from the guardianship of the occupation, America, or any other guardianship. .

Thus, the Palestinian state project will not succeed, whether due to Israeli rejection or failure to meet the aspirations of the Palestinians in the form proposed by Washington.

Just as the “Al-Aqsa Flood” succeeded in restoring respect to the Palestinian cause, the continuation of the resistance and its steadfastness on its land, and the Palestinian people’s rally around it, will enable the Palestinians in the end to decide their own destiny and achieve the liberation of their land, whether it is long or short.
