According to interviews with investigators, a couple living in Tokyo's Taito Ward has been arrested for killing their 4-year-old second daughter by forcing her to ingest a toxic chemical contained in car antifreeze. There is something suspicious about the circumstances surrounding the death of a relative in his 40s who passed away six years ago, so the Metropolitan Police Department will also investigate the matter.

Those arrested were Kenichi Hosoya (43), a company executive from Taito Ward, Tokyo, and his wife Shiho Hosoya (37).

According to investigators, the two are suspected of murdering their second daughter, 4-year-old Miki, by poisoning her with harmful chemicals in their apartment in March last year.

Miki was found unconscious at her home that day, and was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

When the Metropolitan Police Department closely examined the body, they detected ethylene glycol, a component found in antifreeze that prevents car engines from freezing, as well as antidepressants. The investigation was underway.

As a result, it was discovered that there is a suspicion that the two of them intentionally caused Miki to ingest these ingredients in some way.

Regarding ``ethylene glycol,'' experts point out, ``When humans ingest it, poisoning symptoms occur during the metabolic process. Even small amounts can be life-threatening.''

The suspect couple lived with five children, including Miki, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the details of the incident, including how she was raising her children.

Meanwhile, suspect Kenichi's older sister, who died six years ago at the age of 42, has also been investigated as there are suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
