China News Service, Haikou, February 12 (Reporter Wang Ziqian) The Hainan Provincial Information Office held a press conference on the return of the Qiongzhou Strait Spring Festival Transport on the 12th. Li Guantao, deputy director of the Hainan Provincial Department of Transportation, introduced at the meeting that judging from the pre-sale ticket volume information, starting today, the Qiongzhou Strait will usher in a peak return trip, which is expected to be on February 16th and 17th (the seventh and eighth day of the Lunar New Year). Reaching its peak and setting a record high, the daily number of passengers transported will exceed 160,000 and the number of vehicles will exceed 40,000.

Li Guantao introduced that transportation demand in the Qiongzhou Strait was strong during the Spring Festival this year. Since the Spring Festival on January 26, vehicle and passenger flow has reached its peak and has increased significantly. Combined with the impact of severe weather, transportation pressure has increased significantly. As of February 11, there were 2.11 million passengers and 485,000 vehicles in and out of the Qiongzhou Strait, a year-on-year increase of 32.75% and 16.78% respectively. Vehicle and passenger traffic on both sides of the Taiwan Strait continue to run at high levels, and the proportion of large trucks has increased significantly compared with previous years; ships and ports are operating at full capacity.

He introduced that since February 5, the Qiongzhou Strait has operated an average of 281 flights per day, transporting 28,500 vehicles, and 124,100 passengers. A total of 48 new energy flights and 4,908 transport vehicles have been added.

He said that in order to ensure the return transportation of Spring Festival travel across the Qiongzhou Strait, Hainan Province will open more flights, strive to operate more than 300 flights per day, and invest in no less than 6 new energy vehicle flights. Continue to fully implement the appointment crossing system and the vehicle entry management system three hours before sailing. When necessary, coordinate the emptying of ships on the north coast and support rush shipments on the south coast.

Cai Qinbo, deputy director and spokesperson of the Hainan Provincial Meteorological Bureau, said that it is expected that from the 13th to the 17th (the fourth to the eighth day of the Lunar New Year), affected by the southeastern warm and humid air flow, there will be intermittent foggy weather in the Qiongzhou Strait in the morning, including the 15th to the 15th. On the 17th, heavy fog in the Qiongzhou Strait may last from night to morning, which may affect normal navigation in the strait.

Li Guantao said that the transportation department will release information on vehicle queues, reservations for entering and exiting the island, ship suspension and resumption, and port emergency movement through radio, television, Internet and other media in real time to guide people and vehicles to enter the port in an orderly manner. In terms of service guarantee, stranded passengers will be provided with catering, hot water, toilet and other services. Further optimize the control of entry and exit roads to ensure good traffic order around the port.

Zhou Pinghu, deputy director and spokesperson of the Political Department of the Traffic Police Corps of the Hainan Provincial Public Security Department, reminded at the meeting that passengers entering and leaving the island should pay attention to the navigation prompts for entering and leaving the island through the port, buy tickets first and then go to the port, and the departure time should not be more than 3 days in advance. Arrive at the port within hours, and be sure not to believe scam information such as scalpers scalping tickets or paying more to board the ship in advance. (over)
