From February 9, the Atelier des Lumières offers a discovery of the most beautiful secrets of Egypt from the time of the pharaohs thanks to spectacular projections, broadcast at 360 degrees.

At the Atelier des Lumières in Paris, an exhibition devoted to the Egypt of the pharaohs, from Khufu to Ramses II, showcases, in an immersive setting, the richness of a vanished civilization with the impression of evolving in majestic frescoes.

Tell a story

Beneath our feet, in this immense hangar of the Atelier des Lumières, the sand turns into gold. The invitation to this divine journey, lasting around forty minutes, is launched. Facing visitors, the temples of Luxor and the pyramids of Giza are erected. Hieroglyphics are drawn on papyrus. All these animations are projected on a ten meter high wall.

“I took a trip to Egypt. I had a bit of a shopping list when I went there to complete the photos that we were missing,” explains Virginie Martin, the artistic director of this new exhibition. “When I approached the subject, I had the feeling that we were going to be in something quite fixed and mineral. Ultimately, the history, the context and the mythology mean that we can tell a lot of things” , she continues.

Tutankhamun's golden mask

This exhibition has some great surprises in store, notably the famous gold mask of Tutankhamun which is revealed in giant format. “The vibrancy of the gemstone colors makes these items appear brand new!” says Jean-Guillaume Pelletier, Egyptologist.
