Dark clouds of smoke over Gothenburg: A fire broke out in a brand new water park - before the first guests could even try out the water slides.

The fire department announced that the flames spread in the area of ​​the not yet opened “Oceana Waterworld” in the Liseberg amusement park. Buildings were on fire and a huge cloud of black smoke hung over the district.

According to police, several people were injured on site. They were therefore able to seek medical treatment themselves. According to the police, the buildings in the immediate vicinity of the water park, including a hotel, were evacuated.

The emergency services called on residents to stay in their homes and to keep windows and doors closed. According to police, adjacent buildings were evacuated.

The cause of fire was unclear for the moment. The water park was scheduled to open in the summer. It is to become part of Liseberg, the largest theme park in Scandinavia.
