The "Kandara Matsuri" was held in Yamagata City, where you can enjoy Yamagata's winter delicacy, "Kandarajiru."
``Kandarajiru'' is a local winter dish from the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture, made by stewing cod caught in the Sea of Japan in winter with all the meat and bones left in miso.
On the 12th, Yamagata City held a ``Kandara Matsuri'' where you could enjoy this cold dara soup, and many people, including families, gathered at the venue in front of Yamagata Station.
Starting just before 11 a.m., ``Kandarajiru'' made by the women's division of the Yamagata Prefecture Fisheries Cooperative and others went on sale for 700 yen per cup. I was tasting "Darajiru".
A man in his 50s who visited with his family said, ``Eating it during this cold season warms your body, and the flavor is rich and delicious.I'm happy because I don't have many opportunities to eat it inland.''
Toshihiko Sato, manager of Yamagata Prefecture's Fisheries Promotion Division, said, ``We want people living inland to enjoy the cold dara soup, which is packed with the goodness of Shonai Beach, and we want to expand the consumption of seafood.''
