The National Museum of Nature and Science has collaborated with a private facility for the first time to open an aviation museum in Chikusei City, Ibaraki Prefecture, displaying items such as the YS11, the first domestically produced passenger aircraft after the war.

The Hirosawa Aviation Museum, which opened on the 11th, is located in the private facility ``The Hirosawa City'' in Chikusei City, and has eight aircraft on display in a hangar of over 1,800 square meters.



Many of the items are in the collection of the National Museum of Nature and Science.

Until now, it had been stored at the main building in Ueno, Tokyo, and at Haneda Airport, but this is the first time it has been exhibited in collaboration with a private facility so that more people can see it in a larger space.



A woman who came to see the aircraft said, ``I was impressed to see the actual aircraft.I couldn't help but want to ride it.''

Noriyuki Sekine, Director of the Research Promotion and Management Division at the National Museum of Nature and Science, said, ``I'm very happy to finally be able to show our aviation heritage to the public.I want people of all generations to experience the power of the real thing.''
