Because he said he had dodged a raccoon, a 41-year-old in the Northeim district in Lower Saxony landed his van on the grass verge. When the accident was recorded, it turned out that he had not had a driver's license since July last year, as the police announced.

The man was driving the van on a federal highway near Angerstein on Saturday when he left the road because of the animal, the police announced on Sunday. The officers initiated criminal proceedings for driving without a license and prohibited further driving.

In addition, the 41-year-old had to pay a security deposit of 500 euros on the orders of the Göttingen public prosecutor. The police also found a blank gun on him, meaning there was also a violation of the Weapons Act. The blank gun was seized and the investigation is ongoing.
