According to Kagoshima Prefecture, on the 10th, it was reported that an increase in the number of dead chickens was occurring at a poultry farm in Minamisatsuma City, and as a result of genetic testing, the highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza virus was detected. .



For this reason, the prefecture began culling approximately 13,000 chickens raised at this poultry farm and related poultry farms where the same manager comes and goes from 7 a.m. on the 11th.



In addition, the area within a 3km radius of this poultry farm has been designated as a ``restricted movement area,'' where the movement of chickens and eggs is prohibited, and the area within a 10km radius has been designated as an ``export restriction area,'' where shipments from that area are prohibited. We have set up disinfection points at four locations and have begun disinfecting the vehicles involved.



According to the prefecture, there are a total of 15 poultry farms within a 10km radius that are subject to the restrictions, and approximately 360,000 chickens are being raised there.



This is the ninth case of avian influenza at a poultry farm this season nationwide, and the second in Kagoshima Prefecture.
