The Gaza Strip witnessed a significant decline in the intensity of ground operations launched by the Israeli occupation army, with the exception of the fierce battles in the Khan Yunis camp in the south, amid mounting talk about an Israeli military operation targeting the city of Rafah on the border with Egypt.

In this context, the military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, says that the Rafah battle - which is being talked about in Israel - is a different situation because the matter requires work in two directions.

During his analysis for Al Jazeera, Al-Duwairi expected that the old Rafah camps would be dealt with in combat, similar to the Brazil neighborhood, as is currently happening in the Khan Yunis camp, while forced displacement operations would be carried out in the emergency camps that were created during the current war by setting up tents in the open and border areas.

He pointed out that the forced displacement will be carried out by Israel by leaving safe corridors either to the areas of the northern Gaza Strip or towards the Sinai Peninsula in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

He described Cairo's position on the invasion of Rafah and the occupation of the Philadelphia border axis as ambiguous despite the Egyptian army pushing 40 tanks towards the border, "but it is not known whether the goal was to deter Israel or prevent displacement," according to Al-Duwairi.

He went on to explain that if Egypt preserves its historical heritage and national security, it “will not allow Israel to occupy the other side of the border between it and the Gaza Strip, because it is occupied territory according to international law.”

Concerning the implications of the resistance factions’ frequent seizure of Israeli drones, Al-Duwairi says that the occupation army extensively uses drones of all kinds for the purpose of monitoring and reconnaissance, as well as carrying out sniping and bombing operations, “and for this reason the resistance in Gaza is able to shoot down some of them or seize them.”
