A rescue team from the Prague fire department rescued a young woman from a 15 meter deep sewer shaft during the night. She fell into it on Friday at around 11 p.m. - for reasons that are still unclear, as the news portal Idnes.cz reported, citing fire and rescue spokespersons.

It is said that the woman's parents saw the accident in the Petrovice district of Prague and alerted the fire department. As they announced, the woman had to be rescued using mountaineering equipment. In a video from the rescue operation, firefighters can be seen securing a long red rope with carabiners to metal struts above the shaft. So they were able to carefully free the woman from the darkness.

The woman was taken to hospital with multiple injuries. As soon as the condition of the injured allows this, the police want to question them, it was said. The aim was to clarify whether someone had removed the manhole cover on the side of the road or how else the accident could have happened.
