The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office's special investigation department has charged two people, including the president of a Tokyo company that repairs and refurbishing aircraft, with consumption tax law, for evading approximately 1.3 million yen in consumption tax and fraudulently attempting to obtain a refund of more than 60 million yen. He was arrested on suspicion of violating the law.

Those arrested were Junji Koyama (70), the president of Nippon Aerotech, headquartered in Chofu, Tokyo, and Shokichi Asami (75), the de facto manager and advisor.



According to the Special Investigation Department of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office, the two avoided approximately 1.3 million yen in consumption tax in the year up to October 2021 by recording fictitious purchases, and also received approximately 63 million yen in consumption tax refunds. The company is suspected of violating the consumption tax law by attempting to fraudulently receive the tax.



On the morning of the 8th, the Special Investigation Department and the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau searched related parties in Fussa City, Tokyo.



The Special Investigation Department has not revealed whether the two men admitted or denied the charges, but according to sources, they denied the charges when interviewed voluntarily before their arrest.



According to sources, the company made it appear that it had purchased an aircraft hangar owned by an unregistered company from a third party, and recorded fictitious purchases.The Special Investigation Department analyzed the seized materials.
