A 40-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of defrauding a woman he was dating of 1.9 million yen by lying, saying, ``I want to be transferred to another hospital for cancer treatment.'' The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the possibility that he defrauded approximately 10 women of a total of 400 million yen using similar tactics.

The suspect arrested was Nobuhide Nonami (40), an unemployed man with an unknown residence.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, in April 2021, he lied to a woman he was dating at the time, saying, ``The hospital where I am currently being treated cannot give me chemotherapy treatment.I would like to transfer to another hospital.'' He is suspected of fraud for defrauding him of 10,000 yen.

It is believed that she had hinted at marriage to women, saying things like, ``I will definitely make you happy after we get married,'' and that she has defrauded women of a total of 30 million yen so far.

In response to the investigation, he admitted the charges, saying, ``There is no doubt about it.''

The Metropolitan Police Department said that during the three years until the suspect's birthday, he had hinted at marriage to about 10 women, and had given them a total of about 400 million yen in the name of expenses such as cancer treatment and resolving disputes between relatives. We are investigating the matter as it appears to have been defrauded.
