A critically injured 16-year-old died after a fight between young people in a skate park in Sauerland a week and a half ago. He died from his injuries in hospital on Thursday, police and prosecutors said. The investigation into the exact cause of death was ongoing.

The teenager was found lifeless in the skate park in Meinerzhagen (Märkischer Kreis) on January 30th and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to the police investigation, a fight broke out between two groups of young people at the skate park. Several people then fled in different directions.

The search for witnesses continues

The public prosecutor's office and the police are continuing to search for witnesses, informants and evidence, it said. It cannot be ruled out that there is a video of the crime or from the area surrounding the crime. The police have therefore created the opportunity to submit relevant material anonymously.

After the crime, a murder squad began investigating several suspects. The police announced a week ago that personal details were determined, apartments in the Märkischer Kreis were searched and cell phones were seized.
