Drinks are indispensable on the festive table. There are many varieties of sugar-free drinks with added sweeteners in supermarkets. So, for some people who are not suitable for drinking sweet drinks but still want to eat sweets, can sugar-free drinks be consumed freely? In this regard, experts say that you should not drink too many sugar-free drinks with added sweeteners.

Wu Jia, deputy secretary-general of the Nutrition Society of the China Health Promotion and Education Association: Some studies say that sweeteners will affect our intestinal flora. In fact, sweeteners are a kind of deception to the human brain. Because when we eat something sweet, our blood sugar will rise, and insulin starts to work to suppress the blood sugar. But now the blood sugar does not rise, the brain receives the signal, I eat something sweet, and my insulin has to work. In this way, it may not raise blood sugar in the short term, but in the long term, some experts believe that it may have a negative impact on health. There are risks, so it’s okay to eat a little bit, but don’t eat it completely thinking that it is sugar-free.

Based on the dietary characteristics of the Spring Festival, nutritionists recommend that if you want to choose a drink, tea drinks without added sweeteners and original soda water are recommended.

Wu Jia, deputy secretary-general of the Nutrition Society of the China Association for Health Promotion and Education: Especially during the Spring Festival banquet, you eat a lot of greasy and heavy food. Drinking some refreshing tea drinks is a better choice. There are also some sugar-free sodas that are more suitable. For example, cut some lemon slices into the soda water and mix it with a little fresh juice to bring out a bit of flavor. If you have gout patients or people with high uric acid in your family, it is more recommended to drink this sugar-free soda.
