Feeling a bit like you are with the royals: That is now possible – at least for people with the necessary change. The auction house Bonhams is auctioning off props and costumes from the series “The Crown”. For six seasons, the series told the lives of the British royal family - especially Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022).

A gold-colored carriage brought in around 56,000 pounds (around 66,000 euros) including fees on Wednesday. The replica of the “Gold State Coach” was one of the more expensive and difficult to produce props, the auction house said.

Proceeds for scholarship program

Also a highlight: the green Jaguar of the series Diana. He found a buyer for 70,000 pounds (approx. 82,000 euros).

The proceeds will be used to support a scholarship program for filmmakers. Elaborately designed costumes, pieces of furniture, specially made paintings and other items were also auctioned.

A replica of the chair from the coronation scene was auctioned for just under 26,000 pounds (around 30,000 euros) including fees, and a ring modeled on Princess Diana's engagement ring for around 7,700 pounds, or around 9,000 euros.

The entrance to the government headquarters in London's Downing Street was also recreated for the series. The backdrop, including the premium, came to around 11,000 pounds (approx. 12,700 euros), which was less money than expected. A total of around 450 objects will be auctioned at the auction, the online part of which runs until this Thursday.
