China News Service, Jilin, February 8 (Reporter Shi Hongyu) In recent days, along the Songhua River in Jilin City, poetry recitations, songs, dances, Peking opera, and Internet celebrity programs are being staged in turn. The river flows slowly, and citizens and tourists watch the show and take photos of the night view of the river city in the north. Visitors can enjoy night skiing at the two world-class ski resorts located around the city.

In fact, the popularity of ice and snow tourism in Northeast China is closely related to ecological and environmental protection. As an old industrial base city in Northeast China, Jilin City is known as the "Chemical City". For a long time, the local area has continued to explore a balance between economic development and ecological environmental protection. In this snow season, Jilin City "breaks out of the circle" with ice and snow tourism, and a good ecological environment begins to release "welfare".

Data show that in 2023, the ecological environment quality of Jilin City will be generally stable, and the proportion of days with good urban air will be 88.8%, ranking first among cities in central Jilin Province. Six pollutants have reached national secondary standards for three consecutive years.

At present, the Jilin Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau is paying close attention to various indicators such as water, air, and soil. The fluctuation of each number affects the hearts of environmental protection workers.

Guan Yingjie, director of the General Department of Jilin Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, said that the local area has historically solved a large number of outstanding ecological and environmental problems. For example, all 115 barrier breeding facilities were demolished, ending the 40-year history of barrier breeding in Songhua Lake; the Beidagou black and odorous water treatment project eliminated the huge hidden danger of pollution in the Songhua River.

In the past few days, Guan Yingjie was overjoyed to see the news that Pingwen Tourism in his hometown was "out of the circle" and forwarded relevant videos and news in his circle of friends. He has visited major local rivers many times and took the lead in formulating scientific plans to guide Jilin City in carrying out special actions such as improving water quality, protecting water sources, preventing and controlling livestock and poultry pollution, and treating water bodies inferior to Category 5. Therefore, he recently won the title of National Advanced Worker of Ecological Environment System.

"Now is the era of 'big environmental protection'. The ecological environment carries many industries and concerns more people." He said, using pictures and text to show reporters the changes in Jilin City's water ecology.

The Songhua River urban water source relocation project has built 29 kilometers of new water source pipelines, further ensuring the safety of urban and rural water sources; after the water ecological restoration of the Changbai Island section wetland and Wende River wetland of the Songhua River, it has attracted birds; all sewage in 16 industrial clusters has been centralized Collection and processing.

According to the Jilin Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, the local water ecological environment has been greatly improved. In particular, the excellent and good water quality rate of 19 local national examination sections has reached a record high. The main pollutant chemical oxygen demand emissions have been reduced by approximately 15,000 tons and ammonia nitrogen emissions have been reduced by approximately 1,000 tons. .

Guan Yingjie believes that behind the “big environmental protection” pattern is the efforts of the entire city. The reporter learned that during this Northeast ice and snow tourism season, Jilin government departments, grassroots environmental protection workers, volunteers, and citizens have joined in the protection of the ecological environment.

Volunteers help maintain order at the pedestrian barriers and viewing areas set up along the coast of Changbai Island; environmental protection staff monitor water quality at all times; tourists and citizens also consciously help with cleaning while watching birds flying in the Songhua River and making tea by the stove in the igloo.

Currently, the Jilin Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau is formulating a work plan to continue to improve the ecological and environmental quality of the "Chemical Industry City". (over)
