Six men and women have been arrested by Aichi Prefectural Police for cultivating cannabis plants in a building believed to be a former factory site in Mie Prefecture. It has a system that allows for remote control of things like room temperature, and police believe that cannabis was being cultivated in an organized manner, and are investigating the smuggling route.

Those arrested were six men and women in their 20s to 40s, including Takehisa Minami (40), whose occupation is unknown, who lives in Kani City, Gifu Prefecture.



According to police investigation, the six people are suspected of violating the Cannabis Control Act by cultivating cannabis for the purpose of trafficking in a building in Kawagoe Town, Mie Prefecture.



After receiving information, Aichi Prefectural Police searched the scene in January and seized over 560 plants believed to be cannabis plants.



According to the police, the building at the scene is located in a residential area and is believed to be the site of a former factory.It is equipped with lights, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers that adjust sunlight hours to improve the growth of cannabis plants, and the room temperature can be controlled remotely. This means that there was a system in place to do so.



The cultivation process was not visible from the outside, and local residents did not even notice.



Police suspect that marijuana was being cultivated in an organized manner and are investigating the smuggling routes.



Police have not disclosed the identity of the six people.
