The Kumamoto Prefecture Citizen's Honor Award will be presented to singer Aki Yashiro, who was born in Yashiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture and passed away in December last year.

Aki Yashiro, a native of Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture and known for numerous hit songs such as ``Ame no Hojo'' and ``Funauta,'' passed away in December last year at the age of 73.



Kumamoto Prefecture has announced that it will award Yashiro the Prefectural Honor Award in recognition of her respect and inspiration on a national scale.

At a press conference on the 7th, Governor Kabashima said, ``He won the Japan Record Award for singing many famous songs with rich expression and emotional singing ability, and was active as a singer representing Japan.''



Furthermore, he continued, ``During the Kumamoto Earthquake and the heavy rain disaster in July 2020, he worked diligently to provide disaster relief, visiting the affected areas many times and visiting the victims. I thought it was appropriate."



As soon as the Prefectural Honor Award is ready, it will be delivered to the representative of the agency to which it belongs.
