The American actress

Gina Carano

sued

Disney

and

Lucasfilm

this Tuesday for discrimination and unfair dismissal, after being expelled in 2021 from the series

'The Mandalorian'

for comparing the political situation of the United States with Nazi Germany on social networks.

The document filed in a federal court in

California

seeks a court order forcing the production company Lucasfilm (owned by Disney) to rehire her and pay at least $75,000 in punitive damages.

Carano's lawsuit is being funded by businessman Elon Musk's social network

However, Carano made those statements from her Instagram account.

"As a sign of X Corp's commitment to freedom of expression, we are proud to provide financial support to Gina Carano's lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her freedom of expression rights in or discrimination," reads a statement signed by X's head of commercial operations,

Joe Benarroch

.

The production company responsible for the 'Star Wars'

films

fired Carano in 2021 after the actress posted a comment on Instagram in which she compared being a Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust.

"As history alters, most people don't realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily arrest thousands of Jews, the government first caused their own neighbors to hate them simply for being Jews. "How is that different from hating someone for their political opinions?" the actress posted.

Previously, the former mixed martial arts fighter had already been against the use of masks, she had supported comments that claimed that racism does not exist in the United States and that followers of former President

Donald Trump

are treated unfairly.

In the lawsuit, Carano also argues that Disney ignored offensive and denigrating comments that her male colleagues made about some Republicans, referring to a 2017 post in which

Pedro Pascal

compared former President Donald Trump to Hitler.
