According to the publication, the situation with killer whales became known thanks to a local researcher who filmed the animals using a quadcopter. This footage shows the attempts of killer whales, including calves, to escape from the trap.
“The killer whales clustered together on a small area of the sea surface between the ice floes, constantly swimming and diving to breathe,” the publication said.
In May 2023, another situation involving killer whales occurred off the coast of Spain. It was reported that due to the collision with them, the crew of the sailing ship had to be rescued.
