Previously, little Dele, who was only 10 months old, was diagnosed with congenital biliary atresia and liver failure, and was in urgent need of a liver transplant. Dele's mother Dolma (pseudonym) and his uncle who knew Chinese held him for more than 10 flights. He traveled more than 2,900 kilometers from Qamdo, Tibet to Hangzhou, Zhejiang, seeking help from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (hereinafter referred to as the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University).

"Liver transplant surgery involves vascular reconstruction and biliary tract reconstruction, but Xiao Dele is young and weighs only 5 kilograms. His blood vessels and biliary tracts are relatively thin, so the operation is more difficult." said Dean of the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University and leader of the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery. Wang Weilin said, "For liver transplantation, we have linked hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, pediatrics, ICU, anesthesia surgery department, ultrasound imaging, nursing and other disciplines to form a liver transplantation team."

On January 22, Wang Weilin and Yan Sheng, executive deputy director of the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, jointly performed the surgery on Little Dele. After successfully completing the operation, Little Dele also safely passed through a series of difficulties such as postoperative rejection and infection, and his condition in all aspects was stable. Things got better, and on the occasion of the New Year, little Dele was successfully discharged from the hospital.

In fact, Xiao Dele's smooth discharge was inseparable from the efforts of the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University at all stages. It is reported that before Little Delek came to Hangzhou, the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University took into account communication problems and urgently looked for Tibetan translator volunteers, and contacted the 120 ambulance in advance to take Little Delek from the airport to the ward.

Before Little Dele was admitted to the comprehensive ICU, the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University also intervened in advance and made very thorough preparations for the adjustment of the child's comprehensive condition and postoperative recovery. "Happily, on the second day after the operation, little Dele was able to sit up with our help and was in good spirits. The nurse even used toys to coax him, hoping he would not be afraid and survive the operation smoothly." Zhejiang University Huang Man, director of the comprehensive ICU of the Second Hospital, said.

The reporter learned that the recovery of liver function after liver transplantation depends largely on the patency of the anastomotic blood vessels and bile ducts. However, because Dele is still young, the related blood vessels and bile ducts are not fully developed. For this reason, the ultrasound team of the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University performed ultrasound examinations on Xiao Dele every day after the operation to evaluate the liver, blood vessels, bile ducts, and abdominal cavity in more detail. In addition, after Little Dele returned to the general ward, the pediatric medical team also carefully took care of the 10-month-old baby and guided Little Dele's mother on how to take care of the child after surgery.

In the future, little Dele will also need to receive close health follow-up to enable early detection and timely treatment of complications after liver transplantation. In addition, although little Dele is 10 months old, he only weighs 5kg. In order to help little Dele grow up healthily, the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University will continue to provide guidance on his growth and development in the future.

It is worth mentioning that when Little Delek was about to be discharged from the hospital, the Tibetan volunteers and enthusiastic people from all walks of life who first took the initiative to provide help began to considerately arrange accommodation for Little Delek and his family, so that Little Delek could go to the hospital for health follow-up. After receiving relevant needs, the Changhe Subdistrict Guanchao Community mobilized residents to search for housing. An enthusiastic resident took the initiative to let Xiao Dele's family live in his house near the hospital for free for 2 months. The community also raised daily necessities from various sources to help Xiao Dele and his family live for free. The Dele family feels at home in Hangzhou.

This year's Tibetan New Year and Lunar New Year happen to fall on February 10. Little Delek's mother Dolma (pseudonym) said that this is the first time in her life that she has left Tibet to celebrate the New Year, but the child has gained a new life in Hangzhou, and the whole city is concerned. Make the whole family feel very warm. (over)
