Düsseldorf Airport: Convicted criminal arrested

A Kosovan convicted of manslaughter was arrested at Düsseldorf airport while attempting to enter the country. The federal police reported that he had been deported from Germany 17 years earlier.
There was an almost 17-year-old arrest warrant against the now 65-year-old man. In 1998 he was sentenced to 14 years in prison; at the time of his deportation in 2007, the man still had a good four and a half years to serve. According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, enforcement can be carried out if the convicted person returns to Germany.
According to federal police, the man was handed over to the judicial authorities after his arrest on Monday evening. He had previously flown from Pristina to Düsseldorf.
