In an effort to secure workers at Narita Airport, where a labor shortage is an issue, companies with offices within the airport held a joint information session for students and others in Chiba City.

At Narita Airport, while demand for international flights has rapidly recovered after the coronavirus pandemic, some requests for new flights or increased flights have been unable to be accommodated due to a lack of manpower. Once the runway is completed, the number of passengers is expected to increase, and it is estimated that approximately twice the number of employees will be needed.

In particular, the shortage of ground handling employees, who perform tasks such as guiding aircraft on the ground and operating check-in counters, is an issue, and approximately 40 companies, including ground handling companies, participated in an information session held on the 6th in Chiba City. .

Participating companies were divided into booths and explained to visiting students and others about the nature of their work, benefits, and rewards.

In addition, a short film produced by volunteers from the local business community and others set at the airport was screened for the first time in order to educate as many people as possible about the current situation.

Participating students said, ``I'm interested in the ground staff who take care of me when I travel, but today I also became interested in other airport jobs,'' and ``I've been interested in working at airports since I was a child.'' "After listening to the explanation, I had an image of working there," he said.

Toshihiro Katayama, Director of Narita Airport Corporate Strategic Planning Office, said, ``Through the briefing session, we would like to work to secure human resources for the airport as a whole.''
