A man armed with an ax triggered an operation with a special unit in Weinstadt (Baden-Württemberg). The 47-year-old initially threatened a neighbor with a gun on Sunday, the police said.
When he then called the emergency number, the man barricaded himself in the house. According to the police, he then threatened the officers with the hatchet. With the support of a special operations team, the man was overpowered and arrested. According to the information, he suffered minor injuries.
The 47-year-old was probably in a psychological state of emergency and was taken to a psychiatric clinic, a police spokesman said. He is being investigated for, among other things, threats and resistance to law enforcement officers. No further details were disclosed.
