Britain's King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer. Charles' public appearances were initially canceled, Buckingham Palace announced. The king is receiving medical treatment. Details about the cancer were not disclosed.

Charles, 75, spent three nights in hospital last month undergoing surgery for an enlarged prostate. According to the information, another “concerning problem” was discovered. As the palace announced, tests showed that it was a “form of cancer.”

King Charles decided to make his illness public to avoid speculation. He is in good spirits about his therapy and expects to be able to fully perform his duties again as soon as possible. Until then, he will continue to devote himself to government tasks and desk work as usual. Several British media also report unanimously that Prince Harry has already spoken to his father. Charles' younger son, who lives in the USA, will travel to Great Britain in the coming days.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak wished Charles a speedy recovery. "I have no doubt that he will soon be back to full strength and I know that the whole country wishes him all the best," the head of government said. Opposition leader Keir Starmer expressed well wishes on behalf of the Labor Party. »We look forward to seeing him back in full health soon.«

Charles has been British monarch for more than a year. In addition to him, his daughter-in-law Kate was also recently treated. The 42-year-old wife of heir to the throne Prince William underwent abdominal surgery in mid-January and was then in the hospital for almost two weeks. She is now recovering at home in Windsor, where the couple now lives with their three children.
