Forecaster Vilfand: rare winter heat in the Urals and Western Siberia

According to the weather forecaster, there is a rare “winter heat” in the Urals and Western Siberia, where temperatures are 12-15°C above normal.

“In Omsk, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo regions, the temperature will tend to zero. This is due to the fact that the Atlantic air bypasses the center of European Russia and penetrates the south of the Urals and the southern regions of Western Siberia. In fact, the weather is very warm even in northern Siberia. In Salekhard and Novy Urengoy the temperature is high. The daytime temperature is about -10 °C, which is unusually warm for these regions,” Vilfand said.

He added that it will be “very warm” in the Krasnodar Territory.

“There, the anticyclone, which controls the weather, throws warm air from Central Asia along its western periphery. Therefore, the temperature there is also 10°C above normal, but it is still negative, so it does not pose a danger,” concluded RT’s interlocutor.

Earlier, Deputy Head of the Situation Center of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Anatoly Tsygankov predicted cold weather in Moscow.
