In an effort to encourage the use of public transportation, a demonstration experiment has begun on the 5th that allows passengers to ride buses and streetcars in Kumamoto City for a flat fee of 100 yen.

This demonstration experiment was started by Kumamoto City in an effort to encourage the use of public transportation for commuting to work or school.

For one week from the 5th to the 11th of this month, you can use all streetcar lines, all route buses that pass through Kumamoto City, and Kumamoto Electric Railway trains for a flat fee of 100 yen.

On the first day, the 5th, announcements on the streetcars announced that the ticket would be available for a flat rate of 100 yen.

A woman in her 40s who used the service said, ``If it's 100 yen, it's a reasonable price and I'll give it a try, so I'm grateful.''

During the demonstration experiment, when using an IC card, you can get a discount by touching the card reader as usual.

If you are paying with cash, you will need to get a numbered ticket before boarding the train, but since there are no numbered tickets for streetcars, you just get on the tram.

Airport limousine buses, express buses, and express buses connecting Amakusa and Aso are not subject to the demonstration experiment.

Kumamoto City has been working on making buses and streetcars free of charge on Saturdays, but this time they will collect usage data on five weekday days and use it for future measures.
