Two of the three actors who were injured during a premiere at the Altmark Theater at the end of January have now been released from the hospital. The police in Saxony-Anhalt announced this on Monday.

During the premiere in the theater in Stendal, the actors rubbed a mixture of an ash-like substance and water on their faces. The 31, 40 and 63-year-old actors then suffered chemical burns on their faces - to what extent it is not yet known.

According to the police, rehearsals had already been carried out with an ash mixture the day before the premiere. There were no injuries. During the performance, the three actors felt a burning sensation on their skin. The premiere of “Das Große Heft” was canceled after the break.

There are said to be no visible injuries on the hands that also came into contact with the mixture. “A possible chemical reaction with the make-up used cannot be ruled out,” said the police after the accident.

The ashes and the make-up were confiscated. Samples taken and secured traces were handed over to toxicologists at the State Criminal Police Office for further examination, the police said. Such an investigation could take several months, it said. The officers' investigations are ongoing.

As the police explained, a criminal complaint was filed after the incident. The police announced at the end of last month that there was suspicion of negligent bodily harm. The proceedings are currently being conducted against unknown persons, it was said on Monday.

Part of the further investigation is the extent to which a person may have acted without due care. The investigation has not yet yielded any further information.
