State Grid Xinyuan Fengning Pumped Storage Power Station is located on the main stream of the Luan River in the northwest of Fengning Manchu Autonomous County, Chengde City, Hebei Province. The power station hub project consists of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water transmission system, underground factory system and other buildings. The upper reservoir has a total storage capacity of 45.04 million cubic meters, a normal water storage level of 1,505 meters, and a maximum dam height of 120.3 meters. The lower reservoir is divided into two parts: a sand retaining reservoir and a dedicated lower reservoir for energy storage. The total storage capacity of the sand retaining reservoir is 13.73 million cubic meters. The maximum height of the sand retaining dam is 23.5 meters. The total storage capacity of the dedicated lower reservoir for energy storage is 71.56 million cubic meters.
A total of 12 300,000-kilowatt reversible pumped storage power units are installed in the underground power plant, with a total installed capacity of 3.6 million kilowatts.
