The Children and Families Agency has compiled new draft standards for the first time, citing the need for more generous care for ``temporary protection facilities'' where abused children and others live.

Temporary shelters are facilities where children who have been taken into urgent care due to parental abuse live for up to two months in principle.

Up until now, there have been no specific standards for temporary shelters, and people who have lived there have told us that they had to reuse their underwear because they couldn't bring their personal belongings with them, and that they needed help with their studies because they couldn't go to school. In addition, there were complaints that they felt there was little psychological support, such as being scolded by staff when they cried due to anxiety.

Based on these opinions, the Children and Families Agency has compiled draft standards for the operation of temporary shelters for the first time.

The new draft standards stipulate that children's rights should not be restricted without a justifiable reason:

▽Do not prohibit bringing in personal items without a reasonable reason;

▽If prohibition is unavoidable, the reason should be explained to the child. , I hope to gain your understanding.

In addition,

▽Study instructors will be assigned to support students commuting to school, and

▽Staff will be assigned to provide psychological care.

The Children and Families Agency plans to formulate new standards within this fiscal year.
