According to the Metropolitan Police Department, a 19-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of violating the Cannabis Control Act in April last year and was detained in the detention cell of Takashimadaira Police Station died.



The man had a chronic illness and had been experiencing symptoms of nausea and fever since the day after his arrest, but because he did not have medicine with him, police officers looked for a hospital that could treat him, but they were unable to find one, and the day after his death, he died. He was scheduled to undergo a medical examination.



The Metropolitan Police Department called an ambulance even though they were aware that the man's health condition was deteriorating, as he had been vomiting multiple times and had bloody vomit. Five police officers who were involved in detention management at the time were referred to the prosecutor's office on the 2nd on suspicion of causing death due to professional negligence.



In addition, two of the police officers, including one of the five, were reprimanded, and a total of nine people, including the police chief, were given reprimands or warnings.
