Around 7 pm on the 2nd, a fire destroyed a house in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, and the bodies of two people were found in the ashes. Police are currently investigating the suspects as a woman in her 90s who lives in the house, who has not been able to contact them, and her son, who was visiting the house.

At around 6:50 p.m. on the 2nd, a neighbor of the residence of Sachiko Sasaki (92) in Taiki, Hanamaki City, called the fire department to report that the house was on fire.



Six fire engines were dispatched to extinguish the fire, and the fire was extinguished after about five and a half hours, but a two-story wooden house and a warehouse were completely destroyed by the fire, and two bodies were found in the ruins. .



According to the police, Mr. Sasaki lived alone in this residence, and based on the car parked on the premises and stories from neighbors, it appears that Mr. Sasaki's son was visiting at the time. .



Since they have not been able to contact the two men since the fire, the police believe that the bodies are Sasaki and her son, and are continuing to confirm the identity of the deceased and investigating the cause of the fire in detail.



The site is approximately 1 km east of Hanamaki Airport, in an area where houses are scattered among rice fields.
