The first trial of Deputy Minister of Justice Mizuaki Kakizawa, who is accused of bribery in violation of the Public Offices Election Act in connection with the Koto Ward mayoral election held in April last year, will be held at the Tokyo District Court on February 14th. It will be opened.

On the 1st, former Deputy Minister of Justice Kakizawa Mizuho, ​​who resigned as a member of the House of Representatives, provided a total of approximately 2.8 million yen in campaign compensation to 10 people, including ward assembly members, for the Koto ward mayoral election held in April last year. He is charged with bribery, a violation of the Public Offices Elections Act, for posting paid advertisements on the Internet calling for votes for former Ward Mayor Yayoi Kimura.



The Tokyo District Court has decided to hold the first trial in this case from 10am on the 14th of this month.



Also, on the 20th of this month, former Rep. Kakizawa himself is scheduled to question the defendant.

In this case, former Rep. Kakizawa has acknowledged the charges against him, but according to sources, a former secretary of former Rep. Kakizawa, who was given a summary order on charges of bribery, has appealed the summary order and filed a formal trial. He is expected to plead not guilty.



In addition, three Koto Ward assemblymen who were indicted for accepting 200,000 yen in cash have also indicated that they intend to fight the charges in court, and the purpose of former assemblyman Kakizawa's side providing the cash will be the focus.
